Former President Watches USS San Antonio Commissioning
Former President George H. W. Bush and long time friends Keith and Alice Mosing (Alice is wearing Andante Designer Jewelry) were among more than 6,000 people at Naval Station Ingleside who watched the USS San Antonio go into service. Senator Kay Baily Hutchison, R-Texas, was also on hand for the Commissioning Ceremony of the $1.7 billion warship.

The San Antonio is the first of the Navy's new class of amphibious landing ships. It has a crew of 360 sailors and can haul up to 800 Marines and their equipment. The San Antonio also has two Surgical theaters, a 24-bed infirmary and other Medical facilities. The ship must now go through a few years of training before it's deployed in 2008.
